A problem on .ORG has been detected, the captcha code to new register in each forum is gone, it is reported and in the way to be fixed.
Meanwhile, if you want to stop spammers registration you will activated the admin aproval of accounts in the ACP under configuration, please look this thread: Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |

If you put those names/word in the "disallowed names" section of the admin panel, and ban those email extentions, a great many spambots will not be able to register.
ForumUp is the Webhost. Posting here as you did is the only thing you need to do. |

That does not stop any registrations. It only stops a registrant from being able to activate their account.
There is no possible way to stop all registrations. Even when the CAPTCHA code is in place, some spambot programs can bypass the Captcha code.

Yes, that happens. It is annoying, but not possible to stop. All the forums get irritating "fake" member sign ups. Even this support forum.
What exactly is it that you are concerned about? Is someone typing spam messages in posts? If so, be sure you have your forum permissions set so only activated, registered users can post.
If it is only that you are getting registrations that are NOT making posts, then just delete the accounts you don't want to show in your member list. Or leave them, after editing out any website URL they put in their profile. Then check their profile in the admin panel and make sure it is set to "NOT activated". Then they cannot make any posts.
If there is an unwanted account using the same user name all the time, but with a different email address, simply put that user name in the "Disallowed names" section of the admin panel. Then no one can register with that particular user name. _________________ Margaret /gg'ssimon~ForumUp World-Wide Administrator

Now the captcha code has been reinstaled by our webmaster, the spambooth registration should be diminished. _________________
