I tried giving my members the choice of changing there own skin in their profile

in Adman i changed the over ride to No

some could change some couldn't , and some could only see smilies
by clicking on see more , i no that all skins, don't work,

one of my Adman can't get into Adman,
I have tried taking his states off , it showed as a user, i then gave him back is Adman states, and t showed as Adman, but he still can't get in

I have set the forum back to over ride yes, and he still can't get in
hope this makes sense, as i am confused

Heather, most of it does make sense, but not all through. So, let's take it step by step...

So far, so good.

This makes no sense. Smilies have absolutely nothing to do with this, one way or the other. If you are trying to say something about a third problem, please make it more clear...

Did you actually give him Administrator permissions, or just the Rank?!

I guess that you have changed the member's Rank in the Profile and nothing else.

To actually make someone an Admin, you go to:

Admin Panel >> User Admin >> Permissions

Type/paste in the username and click Look Up User.

On the top left of the page that comes up, you will find

User level: with a drop down menu next to it.

Choose Administrator on the menu, and click Submit at the bottom of the page.

Exclamation Make sure that you can fully trust someone that you appoint as Admin. S/he can do everything that you can do, and thus cause a mess of your forum, be it by mistake or intention.

The override has got nothing to do with it.

At least not as long all the templates that you have installed are working as they should. Check that you can get to the Admin Panel, whatever template you choose. And remember to open the Index page in a new window, when you check, just in case there is something wrong with a template...

On an important side note: I deleted your Avatar, as it made me Panic... Laughing In other words, it was too much movement and flickering for this forum (and for my tired eyes).

Margaret, I have been a member on Heather's board since I was helping her out on .UK support. When I try to change my skin there now, I hit the submit button and the page freezes and refuses to go any farther.

Hi, just adding a note here as I'm a member on the board, as well.

1. I cannot change my skin on the boards DESPITE clicking submit. When I do click submit, NOTHING happens at all.

2. When replying to a post, if I click onto an Emoticon, in the little Smilies box, nothing happens. I have to click onto 'View More Emoticons' and bring them all up to be able to use any of the emoticons at all.

3, Last night, Sydney time, this message was coming up:

Quote:
Failed sending email :: PHP ::

DEBUG MODE

Line : 236
File : emailer.php

occasionally, this morning it comes up on every post/PM I make. Things aren't looking good. Sad

The Emailer Debug Mode is reported to Raulken now.

Here is an explanation of the Emailer Debug Mode, and what to do while you have it:

I doubt that the Emailer problem has anything to do with the other problems. I have the Emailer problem on my UK test forum, but not the other problems. Though it could be the server messing up in general, causing many different problems... Rolling Eyes

In any case, Astarte and Heather, could you please send me your Admin Usernames and Passwords in PMs -- Private Messages -- to me, so I can take a closer look at your forums, and the problems.

Ooops, I made a slight mess of things...

Astarte, you may not be an Admin of Heather's forum, but I want to borrow you username and password there anyway (and not to your forum Astarte).

So I understood, but I made a mess of my post (at that moment I was thinking about 2 forums -- Embarassed see explanation above).

I want to "borrow" your Username and password on Heather's forum, to see the problem from a User perspective, and from an account that has got the problems...
