*Try to fix some of the typos on forum descriptions and other areas.
- A good "spell checker" is Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | .
*Good to see you found and successfully installed a liked templet.
*In the category, Welcome, you should have a announcement forum where you can announce new updates. _________________ Jordan (PirateScoobs)

Otherwise, you will not have many people when your site opens in one day.
Once people do start joining try this.
-----------------------------------------------------------
One constructive idea I have seen is to put out what amounts to a monthly Newsletter, bulk e-mailed to registered members of your forum. In it, include a short extract from each of four selected articles posted on your forum that month.
To each extract add an even briefer editorial comment, highlighting something about the extract and inviting comment. Provide a link to the article.
It amounts to a sort of "This is what they're saying ... what do you think?" type of teaser.
Here's a hypothetical example:
Someone has lodged a ten paragraph article on your forum calling for Circuses to be banned etc etc ...
In your newsletter you quote a selected extract:
( You introduce it ):
Quote:
From a recent post to our Community Attitudes forum comes the following statement:
"Everyone must surely realise that all animals kept in any sort of captivity suffer needlessly. It is even worse when that captivity is for the mere entertainment of an insensitive public."
Do you believe this is fair comment? Read the full article and have your say at:
Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
( direct link to the article page ).
The above is a fictitious example, but you get the idea.
Four such teasers sent out in a monthly newsletter does at least three things:
1. It arouses curiosity and tempts participation,
2. The provided link takes the reader straight into your forum. Once there they might browse more widely.
3. It provides a vehicle for extending a recurrent greeting, reminding all that your forum is alive and well,
It can even have the effect of getting those who might not have visited for a while to get more involved again.
* Try to span a range of moods across your monthly four teasers, ranging from the politically and environmentally earnest, to the "ya never gonna believe this!" , to the downright funny.
With a little creativity the e-mails can be dressed up with some trademark graphic treatment to enhance the contact.

Here's an idea. Your forum needs some work.
First of all make a few "fake" members and post some things from those fake members.
Nobody wants to be the only member of a forum.
Second. You've spelled "thing" "think" in the topics.
Might seem cute to some, but it's annoying to others.
Third. Lots of topics to start. Almost too many considering you have no members. Maybe you can cut a few forums down to start, then add as people join and suggest additions.
Do you need PS2 and PS3? Why not just a PlayStation General forum?
Same with xBox and Nintendo?
I understand you want it to look like you know what the differences are, but having a few dozen forums with no posts looks more empty than a half dozen with at least one post per catagory.
That way you can seek advice from new members and let them help you build the forum.
Plus...there's a million gaming forums out there aren't there?
What makes yours any different or unique? _________________

I'm not a gamer. So that part of your forum is completely useless to me.
The other part....not interested either. I have my own forums for chatting, political and religious debate, and basic spamliciousness.
I don't know what you intend your forum's focus to be.
If it's gaming my previous suggestion should be ignored. If gamers are your target leave that area alone and compress the general chat stuff a lot. I see no need for 5 separate sub-forums on facebook addresses, myspace addresses, bebo.....that's just useless fluff stuff that makes your forum look too busy.
(This is all my personal opinion and certainly not to be taken any other way)
Asking people to join your forum is not going to work that easily.
You must provide a reason why. That's marketing my friend.
Why should somebody join your forum? _________________

First off, this is not the place to recruit members. Secondly, you have SO many spelling mistakes that you need to fix. _________________ Nicole

Yeah...I made mention of that a few posts ago.
One simple solution.
Firefox
Get it, use it, love it.
It's anything....not anythink.
Not to mention about 50 or 60 other spelling issues I saw on first glance. _________________
