It must be as is posted on the index page in purple:

Forums may be running slowly at times during the next few days while our Webmaster does backups and other work on the server, such as updating all the forums to the newest version of phpBB- 2.0.23.

Hi, do you know how much longer this work will continue?

My forum is still experiencing long and frequent periods of down time.

Thanks

I'm sorry, but we staff members do not know how long it will take.

Like everyone else, we hope all of the upgrades are done sooner that later.

Idea However knowing that these things sometimes occur, we set up a back-up forum on a different network so our members can still keep in touch and stay informed on the status of our main ForumUp Forum. It saves a lot of explaining on a person by person basis. Plus they all still have a place to hang out, like a waiting room, not nearly as detailed yet with some entertainment value, until we're back up and running at full capacity again.

Those of you with busy forums may want to consider doing the same thing....

My forum now reports this error:

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /var/www/html/forumup.co.nz/config/multiforums.functions.inc.php on line 65

It has now been un-usable for 5 days.

Please can you fix it. Thanks

I have 130+ members to inform of why it has been down for 6 days. "Maintenance" does doesn't cut it. Please can we have some more information?

You have the information. It takes some doing on the servers to update all the forums to the new version of phpBB3.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.
