Customizing the subSilver CSS

Note: This is not for beginners. If you can't understand this Guide, you are not ready to do this.

The Cascading Style Sheet ( CSS ) is connected to documents codified using a markup language such as HTML. The stylesheet can be inserted into the HTML, or also in a different file with the .css extension.

All the ForumUp themes are based on CSS, but only the subSilverCSS theme is customizable. You can, for example, modify the tables' background images, the colour and the font type, increase or shrink the tables' width, etc.

The .css file for the subSilver theme is downloadable following this url:
Code:
http://YOUR_FORUM_NAME.forumup.com/templates/subSilverCSS/subSilverCSS.css

Instead of "YOUR_FORUM_NAME.forumup.com", put the url name of your forum.

Open a text editor, for example Notepad, and paste the content of the CSS file that appears in your browser and save the file as style.css.

For every parameter there's a little description written into these symbols: *// .

If you want to know to which part of the board a CSS element applies, open the HTML of the index page and search its name.

When you have modified your CSS, you must upload it onto your personal webspace ( if you have one ) or on a webhosting site, such as

After that go to Styles Admin ---> ForumUp Theme in your administration panel and insert the CSS's url into the "Change your CSS" text box.

Then simply click on Change CSS.

Have fun with your modifications. Wink

Note: With a program such as Nvu (
