Information regarding Backups.
You must pay to remove advertisements for over 700,000 views, at least equaling 700,001, in order to use the Backup feature. You pay via Paypal in the Admin Control Panel > ForumUp. See the announcement at
Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum!
IMPORTANT: You are purchasing ‘Show without Ads’, to have the Advertising on your Forum removed. The Backup option is a preliminary feature only. You cannot request a refund for the failure of a Backup because you experience extended delays, errors, or other problems. Backup is only an additional feature for those Users who buy a higher quantity of ‘Show without Ads’.
[new as of 11/08] You many only get one backup every six months.
The Backup process is not easy, and is subject to problems on transaction, and may need extra effort on your behalf on it (sql server, system, operating sytem, mysql etc). Backup can require more than 1 week of migration. PLEASE only request a backup if you, or a friend, are very skilled on MySQL files, and SQL and PHPBB table structure.
Remember, you cannot have a refund of your money for Backup! You pay for ‘Show without Ads’. You are free to close your Forum here without payment, and open another Forum on your own server. If you wish to obtain a Backup, it is completely at YOUR OWN RISK. If you leave ForumUp with your Backup, and later have problems importing to your new Forum, you remain ineligible for a refund.
STEP I: Confirm Forum Owner. (You can do this only once per day for security reasons!)
1) Login into the Admin Panel
2) You must be the Forum Owner, and your Forum creation email address must be active, because the server will send a special link.
3) After clicking on the link you will see: >> . Make another click, and continue.
STEP II: Download the Backup. (try to use a fast Internet connection for a big database, but DO NOT USE an Internet accelerator for download, eg. getright etc)
1) Select "Full Backup".
2) Set Gzip compress file to YES.
3) Press START BACKUP and WAIT, do not click again (Your download will start shortly; please wait until it begins).
4) Simple download, do not use an accelerator, or you will block the download, and your IP will be banned!!
[Edit 12/08: Note that backups are no longer automatic. After you press to "full backup" and GZIP to "yes". a new message will appear saying:

your backup with your username and password
This means that you must then email the webmaster for your backup. Backups no longer happen automatically. So you won't get the backup until the webmaster tends to the email he now requires being sent to him.]
STEP III: Open the file:
1) phpbb_db_backup.sql.gz use winrar -> phpbb_db_backup.sql .
2) Rename phpbb_db_backup.sql to phpbb_db_backup.sql.tar .
3) Use another time winrar and extract phpbb_db_backup.sql .
Importing into your own MySQL database.
You have completed the ForumUp part of the process, but now begin the problems: (An advanced user can import into any type of database. ForumUp Staff do not provide Backup support*, but you may still post a question).
Many errors can be found for character_set (see above) and others, for insertion into the session table. You can exclude them without problem, from your files.
Avatars are not included, but it’s a very easy matter for each user to upload back into your server.
ForumUp will delete the old Forum after a period of non-use.
ForumUp will delete your old Forum if you have a homepage link, and do not notify on a Support Forum your migration, with a ‘Hidden from Homepage’ request.
ForumUp reserves the right to delete your old Forum, after your migration, at any time.
*If you require assistance, you may send the Webmaster Raulken, an email at

. You MUST include:
a. Your Forum Owner email address (used to create your Forum).
b. Your Admin Username and Password.
c. ID of your 'Show without Ads' payment.
d. Description / Error message of the problem.
e. During correspondence, remember to always REPLY, retaining the previous text. Never continue fresh with a blank email.
f. Explain in easy English your problem: 'Banned from Forum', 'Backup is hard', etc.
g. Remember you can ask the Webmaster Raulken to send your Backup only after exhausting all possibilities, and never before 2 weeks of trying.

your backup with your username and password
This means that you must then email the webmaster for your backup. Backups no longer happen automatically. So you won't get the backup until the webmaster tends to the email he now requires being sent to him.
As an alternative to get your backups faster, you must send an email to the ForumUp Webmaster Stefano -

- with the following information:
1. forum name
2. owner email
3. owner username and password
4. paypal payments id (for the amount to get the backup).
Then, Stefano will activate a simple step by step procedure in order to know if you that are requesting the backup are the real owner. After that, you and Stefano have to agree on how to dispatch of the backup: if the backup is small, it can be sent via email to the owner email. Otherwise the owner will be forced to create a temporary FTP server, provide username, password and ftp address to Stefano, who will load your backup to FTP server.
Once completed this procedure, the user must confirm the receipt of the backup.
