I've gotten another report from a virus, this virus shuts down the internet connection every aprox. 10 minutes. This person is using internet explorer 7.
Is there any way to shut down a forum? Because I do not want any of my members going there anymore, can someone maybe just entirely delete it, making it impossible for people to go there?
Offcourse I don't like all the files and posts being gone, but it's better then virusses |

There isn't a way to make it so no one can go to your index page at all. You can only lock all the sections so no one can post.
I understand the concern about the virses and trojans. With Firefox, it doesn't seem to happen, though one person using FF said it did to them.
Everyone needs to get updated virus protection for their computers.
We are sorry that this is happening. _________________ Margaret /gg'ssimon~ForumUp World-Wide Administrator

I suggest that user makes sure Internet Explorer is up to date, their computer is virus, trojan, adware, etc free. _________________

Logged on today and received a warning that a virus was attempting to download on my computer. Luckily my virus protection program caught it and blocked it.
I've warned all of our posters to update their virus protection programs but it's getting to the point that many are staying away because of the viruses. _________________

The virus is dropper.small.j and is located in my temp filed. Could this be associated with the ads? _________________

About a week ago now, it was confirmed it's not to do with the adverts. _________________

Just received two new reports from users regarding this virus. Very frustrating. _________________

Some of those viruses/trojans install programs in one's computer and then hang out there forever until removed. Some of them get activated when one then goes to a website.
So, everyone needs to scan their computers with a virus program AND a trojan removal program. No one program ever gets every single problem cleaned out of a computer. People need to use more than one. Some problems are not viruses, but rather things termed "malware". So some virus programs don't detect malware to then remove it. Yet some malware can cause a great many problems.
Everyone, please read this guide that tells of several free, yet good and effective programs, to use to remove malware from one's computer. Then do use those programs!:

I have McAfee's virus protection program, but it does not find all the same things that "a-squared Personal" finds. A-squared is a malware, trojan, dialer and spyware scanner and remover. They have a free version. _________________ Margaret /gg'ssimon~ForumUp World-Wide Administrator

Just wanted to post up that so far so good... since Raulken found the problem that was causing the virus I haven't had any additional alerts.
thanks again Raulken for getting that resolved so quickly!
