I'm sure you've covered this a million times somewhere, but a search did not yield an answer quickly.

What's the problem with yahoo email accounts and forumup.org compatibility?

Why can't emails go through?

Sorry if you've covered this too many times. I just could not find the thread with a search. I admit I did not page through too many search results.

Thanks

It has nothing to do with ForumUp. It's Yahoo saying it's spam. You have to add ForumUp in Yahoo so it doesn't go into a spam folder.

There is no problem with Yahoo and ForumUp. But, at first, email from ForumUp gets delivered into the spam folder of a Yahoo account, if the person set up a spam folder. Yahoo is one of email providers that delivers everything. It is Hotmail that doesn't always seem to deliver mail from ForumUp, or at least for a while back it was an issue.

Why are you thinking there is a problem with mail from ForumUp being delivered to Yahoo?

Perhaps it's a combination of things.

1) A new member is having trouble

2) Emails are going unanswered

3) This member has a Yahoo email address

4) The messages we admin's get with some email addresses triggered a memory about certain email accounts

5) I put those things together in my mind, along with reading some stuff here about hotmail accounts having troubles and came to a conclusion.

Now, however, I've heard that other members have had troubles emailing this potential new member from their personal accounts so it appears this issue in particular has nothing to do with compatibility issues between forumup and email providers. At least that's how is appears at the moment.

Once somebody is able to get in touch with this potential new member I should know more.

Thanks for the reply.

Maybe that new member doesn't check his Yahoo email account. Maybe he let it expire. If one does not login to one's Yahoo account for 30 or so days, Yahoo closes the account. One can reactivate a closed Yahoo account in a certain time period, but all the old messages were deleted by Yahoo.

If only one person seems to have a problem, in most cases, it is not a ForumUp problem, but rather something about that person's PC or ignorance about things relating to using accounts, etc.

What about gmail? Google mail accounts?

I have had a few members say they've tried to email me and I got nothing from them. They were sending from yahoo mail accounts (I think) to my non-yahoo account through a forumup link.

Not a huge deal because they got me with pm's, but I never got the emails.

Check the spam folders.

They were not sending from a Yahoo account if they sent an email to you through your forum.

Why don't you make a new user account on your forum, and test emailing yourself through the forum?

If you are not getting emails on your Google email account, you need to contact their customer service.
