Hello I'm reasonably new to creating forums, on my forum I've used a script to change the icons in front of the topics and it works until you go into a topic then in the sub-topics it is the original style of icons, is there a way to fix this? Any help is appreciated. Also another minor question approximately what parameters should a banner be to stretch across the top of the page but not be too big vertically?

Where have you inserted the script? If it is in the footer area of the forum there shouldn't be any problemsl like this.

If you haven't put it there, do so. Go to Admin Panel -> General Admin -> ForumUp -> Code at the bottom of theforum, after all topics and insert the code in the second window. Press Edit Allow HTML after this.

It is in the footer, I followed the template for the changing of icons.

For a banner you need to put it in the Site Description:

Admin Panel>General Admin> Configuration> Site Description box.

I don't know the exact size you would need. Experiment. Resize the image until it is as you like it. Note that if you don't also want the smaller logo image to show, you need to replace the logo image with a blank the same color as the background, or a clear image. Different templates will wind up looking different.

I don't know of a way. Maybe if someone who is an expert at writing scripts, there is a way using a script. But with that particular script, that is how it winds up.

In subSilver and some other styles, the icons on the front page are different from the icons on the forum pages.

E.g. the new posts icon in subSilver is "folder_new.gif" in the forum pages, and "folder_new_big.gif" on the index page.

The script must change both.

Eternal, it is like JTS says, they are different icons, and need to be added to the script.

Follow the instructions under Advanced I in the tutorial about the script, here:

And keep in mind that line changes and such in the script are important, and need to continue as they started. Edit on a notepad without "word wrap" ("automatic line changes").

A couple of other notes:

The Black & White template resizes the images, so some of the images you use may turn out a bit too small -- undistinguishable -- for their design, inside the forums.

Your new icons will most probably load faster -- with less visible delay -- of you upload them to Imageshack.
