Many people have been impatient for ForumUp to convert to the new phpBB3, but our webmaster is smart and concerned with the security and stability of ForumUp forums, so has waited.
Good thing, because there is yet again another update to phpBB3 fixing some bugs and problems they discovered. It was released on Dec. 12, 2008. Read about it at:

If ForumUp had already changed to phpbb3, many users would have been upset if any of the bugs made problems.
In addition, there have been 3 updates to phpBB3 since it was first released, so all the thousands of ForumUp forums on over 30 domains would have had to have been updated 3 times. That would have made a lot of long downtown for the forums in a just one year.
So, do not expect ForumUp to convert to phpBB3 for at least a few months, giving time for it to be known if the newest version of phpBB3 was really fixed well with no problems. Anytime changes are made to a program, time is needed for any new problems to show up.
I expect everyone with a ForumUp forum will appreciate our Webmaster's wise decision to wait about converting to phpBB3 until it has been out long enough for ALL the bugs and problems to have been discovered and fixed by the phpBB team.

I agree, it's very wise to wait a little longer until all the (serious) bugs have been fixed.
Also it will give us webmasters more time to try it out on other forumhosts to get familiar with all the new and changed features.
No need to rush things here.

Right, just saying here ok. Why move to other hosts ok to Test out phpBB3 when you can just properly move?
I understand about the posts and members, but in the end, if they know what phpBB3 is like, like I do. They would move alot faster.
I'm not in anyway trying to say move away from ForumUp, I am just saying that when it comes to phpBB3 on free hosts, they have
taken away features, that contain these bugs.
And phpBB keep on coming up with new versions, they now have come out with 3.x.4 and 3.x.3 was only out for a few weeks.
So they are fixing the bugs very fast so ForumUp should change because other hosts have it and nothing is wrong with them.
I have seen the Admin Panel in my Test forum, it looks like Raulken has played about and added alot of things and took things out.
He said be able to do that now don't you think? So I am just abit confused as to why he has not changed from BB2 to BB3 yet...?

Dan ~
You don't know really know what you are talking about, Danny. The hosts who rushed to get phpBB3 could not take away features that contained the bugs. If you looked at and can understand what was fixed, you would realize that. Those things were not "features".
In addition, you don't really know if other hosts had any problems.

That indicates that the program still is not stable. In addition, it is not some easy, fast thing to upgrade thousands of forums, and keep having them go offline for hours every few weeks due to yet another fix made to the phpBB program.
Raulken is very smart and will make the change to phpBB3 when he feels it is the right time.
Since your main forum is not hosted by ForumUp, it really isn't very appropriate for you to be so involved all of a sudden here on this forum. I am glad you are happy with your forum on the other host. So maybe you should go visit their support forum.

As said above Raulken will change to phpBB3 once he feels ready, which is expected sometime this year. So keep your eyes and ears open for announcements on it.

I think it will take even a little longer now that the phpbb.com website has been hacked through a 3rd party script.
important: This is no vulnerability in phpBB3!
The hacker got in using a security issue in a 3rd party script, which wasn't updated to the latest version yet by the phpBB.com teams.
The file compromised was part of phplist, a news feed function which was used for the phpbb website, though not for phpBB3.
Well, I have migrated my CHBB systems into phpBB3.0.3 which I consider stable enough. In fact, changes from 3.0.3 to 3.0.4 are minor issues (and some things about styles inheritance, which I'm not using in my systems).
It's always good to wait for more stable versions, but also be sure that a 100% stable system doesn't exist ^^
Anyway, Raulken is surely doing his best.

Yes, Raulken is very, very wise to wait a long time for problems to make themselves know, and problems do keep coming up.

Which is why we do advise people here on ForumUp to not go around adding scripts here and there from just any old place. And to NOT activate html from in the configuration page.
NOTE: The problems with the phpbb.com website have nothing to do with ForumUp. ForumUp is on it's own servers.

I just wanna say that I cannot wait until phpBB3 is introduced.
But I think it's a good thing that Raulken is waiting (checking) until phpBB3 is 'stable & safe' enough.
I have a dutch forumup-forum about pc security and I love forumup!
I hope Raulken (and his team) will have no major problems introducing phpBB3 and that it may happen soon..
Good luck with phpBB3...

Hall Macro Maniac.
It seems unnecessary here ForumUp to be in line with the move to the version phpBB3 as soon as possible to start.
We are a forum administrators informed about upcoming actions.
Once Raulken all together will have an update to phpBB3 as soon as possible.
(Language Netherlands)
Hallo Macromaniac.
