Adding new Emoticons ( 'smilies' ) ( from ForumUp's large Smilie database you can enlarge your own forum's collection )
1. Adding new emoticons to your own forum gallery: . In the Admin Control Panel (ACP) go down to General Admin. . In the General Admin section click the Smiley Image File tab.
Fig 1.
. This opens a list of all Emoticons Smiles in ForumUp's database.
Things you can do:
A. Add new Smilies to your collection individually: . In ForumUp's 'Emoticons Smiles' database page right-click a smiley that you like.
Fig 2.
. On the drop-menu that appears select 'Properties'.
. In the Dialog Box that appears find:
( in FireFox, 'Alternate Text' at the bottom )
Fig 3.
... or ...
( in Internet Explorer read the top entry in the Dialog Box ).
Fig 4.
. Memorize the GIF code displayed there (identifies image on the server).
( for example, if I want the dazzling 6 of hearts card, its code would be ):
Code:
tucsonpokerplayers_6h.gif
. With that code go to the ACP / General Admin / Smilies.
Fig 5.
. At the bottom of the Smiles Editing Utility page click: "Add a new Smiley".
Fig 6.
The Dialog Box that appears has 3 fields to fill in:
Smiley Code, ( what you will type to make that gif appear on your forum ).
( In my case I will type in :6ofheart: )
Fig 7.
Smiley Image File, ( where you select the smilie code of your choice on a drop-down box ). ( In my case I need to find tucsonpokerplayers_6h.gif )
* The list is long. To narrow your field of search, on your keyboard hit the first letter of the image name you seek. ( In my case that would be the letter " T ". )

Smiley Emotion, ( type in a name for your Emoticon ).
( I think I'll call mine the 6 of hearts ).

Click on 'Submit'.
You should now have successfully added a new Smilie image to your own forum's emoticon collection.
B. You can import a Smiley Pack:
ForumUp's database offers readymade Smilie packs. You can install them by following this guide:
. Go to Smiles Editing Utility chart (ACP / General Admin / Smilies).
. At the bottom of the chart click 'Import Smiley Pack'. * ( see Fig 6. )
. A 'Smiley Pack Import' Dialog Box will appear.
Fig 10.
. In the first section of the Dialog Box, 'Choose a Smile Pack .pak file' drop-down menu choose a listed pack.
Fig 11.
Caution: . The second section of the Dialog Box offers the option: "Delete existing smileys before import". Decide carefully whether to tick the checkbox here.
. The third section of the Dialog Box asks: "What should be done in case of conflicts".
Two choices are offered: 'Replace Existing Smiley' ... or ... 'Keep Existing Smiley'.
NOTE: 'Replace Existing Smiley' does not say which Smiley would be replaced. Choosing 'Replace Existing Smiley' could replace the whole lot in your existing collection!
Therefore if you only want to add to your existing collection, choose: 'Keep Existing Smiley'!
( later, in your 'ACP / General Admin / Smilies' chart you can delete surplus Smilies individually ).
. In the fourth section of the Dialog Box, once you have made all your choices, click 'Import Smileys'.
Fig 12.
On return to your 'ACP / General Admin / Smilies' chart, you should find your new Smilies there.
C. Where and how to use Emoticons: . When posting on your forum, the first 20 Emoticons in your collection are displayed to the left of your 'Edit post' field. To access the rest of your collection click 'View more Emoticons'.
. To insert an Emoticon into a thread on your forum.
1. Just click on the Emoticon that you want ... or ...
2. Type in the Smiley Code name.
