Hello Kari. There never was backup available for ForumUp forums. There may possibly be at some time in the future, but when is not now known.

So why on the Administration -> General Admin catagory is there an option for "Backup Database"?

Because it is a standard template made like that from the people who designed it. It is possible that the backup could be enabled, but it is not so on ForumUp at this time.

The owner of that forum can give you admin rights and let you run it. The only thing is that the original email addressed used to create it will still be attached to that forum.

That won't matter at all unless someone gets into the Admin panel and makes you not the admin anymore. We have a special "tool" to let the owner of a forum have his/her admin rights restored, but it gets sent to the email address that was used to create the forum.

So as long you don't let anyone else have admin rights to get into the Admin Panel, things would be fine.

Goody, follow the steps in this guide on how to make someone a moderator, but instead of selecting "moderator" in places in the admin panel, select "administrator".

And do NOT do step #7 for an Admin unless you want the Admin word to show up on the idex page under each section as being the moderator of that section.

Check you junk/spam/bulk folders. The email from ForumUp almost always gets delivered in those folders.

If you look carefully and you still didn't it, this is a special tool that lets you put in a different email address:

Code:
http://FORUMNAME.forumup.COM/furesendfirstemail.php

You put the name of your forum instead of that sample.

No, I am sorry, but forums cannot be transferred. You will have to do the slow copy and paste method.

But I assure you, it is most certainly possible for you to made admin of that site. He just doesn't understand how to do it.
