It's a very attractive theme but I don't think that you should have all threads open to only registered users. People would like to have a few that they could get in to read to get "a feel of the place" before registering.

Be advised that downloading music is against the ForumUp TOS. Unless it is your own music, or you have written permission to use it, it is in violation.

I loved reading about the American Idiots, but rest assured, we are not all idiots! Laughing

haha! I know, I like Americans! lol Very Happy

RE: downloading music, this may be my bad - I thought the rule was that you could only download live stuff legally (as well as stuff you record yourself of course). If this is wrong I'll take it down immediately; we've not had much traffic yet so no downloading has taken place Smile

RE: guest areas - I've been looking for somebody to ask about this! Very Happy So you think it's be a good idea to have a guest room maybe? I never know how to balance it to be honest - on another forum I had every area open to guests and it turned into spam central Embarassed

A guest area would be a nice addtion but I think that you could open a couple of the existing threads.

Any music of your own or the registered posters would be acceptable. But anything that may be copywrited is not.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Hi Catburglar

A suggestion....in the Forum Admin>Permissions> Advanced...make all your forums...See..ALL and Read..ALL and then set the other options to REG and MOD (for Moderators use only)
This way all visitors to your forum can see and read the posts but only Registered members can post and/or reply.
This will cut down on the spam posts to some extent.

Does this mean if I play a song by another band but "wreck" it (make a noise or something at the start and end) I can post it?

Doubtful; that'd just be a modification of something that is already coprighted, whereas I thought I was allowing stuff that was genuinly legal. Will have to fix that.

Thanks for the tips everyone Very Happy I'll look into those permissions now Very Happy
