Have we considered the possibility that this is not a problem of ForumUp but one of McAfee? For example, a cookie stored on one´s hard drive used by ForumUp contains a row of bytes (which is the identification method those virus scanners use) similar to a virus?

I don't have MacAfee Antivirus, I use Norton.

Haven't had any further problems with viruses appearing on any of the sites I visit so far since Raulken reported the problem was fixed.

I got an email from a member today:
Quote:

Hi - I haven't signed into the forum for a while and today when I landed on the forum Mcafee site advisor is warning me that there are links to:

alwaysfreepornmovies.com - a distributor of adware, spyware etc.

Thanks
Suzanne

Not good, as I was going to announce to members that the forum is fine. Confused

One user reported a virus warning (Norton) and I received the same message from AVG today.

I've never had any Virus warning on my site but a Yank reported he got one yesterday.

Not totally convinced it has anything to do with Forumup.co.uk: it could just as easily have been a result of surfing elsewhere.

The day before I told my lot to update their anti virus and spyware software and that Mr Raulken had declared Forumup Virus Free.

My Mods and Admins all seem on holiday so I'm a bit frazzled. (Well over 100 posts a day and it's quiet!!) Shocked

All I have ever got from Forumup are harmless tracking cookies which I delete daily.

Ironically the adverts also returned yesterday.

I'm not convinced Forumup is the source and, in any case, these Virus/Trojan Notices are Advice of them being blocked, aren't they?

It's more likely to be an infection carried via YIM or MSN.

I stick to FireFox unless a programme insists on IE7.

Just some food for thought.

Three more people have reported trojans attempting to download from our board. Again, we have asked each member to update their virus protection programs and to constantly monitor, but we're losing members.

Hmmm. I thought the .com forums were all clean now.

But, your forum does not have any boards anymore.
