Hi, clunkster. Anything is possible, of course, but from what I know:

It is unlikely that your forum has been actually hacked, as it requires hacking ForumUp rather than a single forum.

The most likely way for someone to "hack" your forum is to get into the Admin's panel -- using an existing Admin account -- and make a mess.

To be safe rather than sorry:

Make sure that you can get in there. Check that everything is okay, and check that no new-ish members have appointed themselves Admin all of a sudden.

And last but not least, change your password. Even if everything seems okay. If you are more than one Admin, then all of you need to this.

But they could have meant you who clicked the link have been "hacked". So check your computer with every scanner you have; virus, spyware, adware etc. And be observant how it "behaves" in general.

FoxLeonard

EDIT: Ah was writing my post when Fox posted.

I would say it's just a *human* spammer. Someone promoting his or her website. I remember there are these websites that get promoted with "DO NOT CLICK HERE" too. Most people do click on it, out of curiousity.. so I guess it's just another one like that.

I've seen some phpBB that were hacked and none of them was still online. All had a "You're hacked muahahaha" or an image for another website (mostly just spam stuff).

I clicked on your URL.. and for me the forum loads fine, so I guess there's nothing. What you can do is change your admin password, just in case or so..

Maybe someone else knows more about it though.

One thing I will add is never click on the spam member links, you don't know what kind of site they are leading to and if the site is hosting a virus or something. I have a message posted up on my forum as well as on a similar forum warning people not to click on the spam links.
