Hello all,

There have been some posting problems on certain forums recently, but they have had Debug Mode Error messages, as far as I know.
Are you sure it was more than glitches (in the forum, or the internet in itself)?
I need some more details, before I report this to the Webmaster (if needed).
Is it only when you try to view a preview, that you get the "page cannot be displayed"?
Does it happen all the time, and in the same threads all the time?
If you don't klick preview, can you then still post new messages in those threads?
Can you get a preview in "all" other threads?
Or do you find more and more threads with the problem?
Do your members experience the same problem, in the same threads (and nowhere else)?
Did you make any changes to the forum recently -- straight before this?
My apologies for all the questions, but I'm just trying to pin-point the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply... I had the problem with preview in that same thread and now I cannot view that thread at all. It appears, at the moment, that it is only that one thread (link I posted above) that is effected ?? I did not get any forumup debug errors at all... just the IE white screen that says page cannot be displayed. On one try to view the thread I got the black forum background like it was going to work and then it quickly went to the IE error screen.
btw... I don't mind the questions, I understand that it is best to try and get the full picture to see what the problem might be
What happens when you click that link I put in the 2nd post to that thread? Were you able to read/see the thread?
Jacko

No, I can unfortunately not get to that thread Jacko. I need to register and log in to do that. But it may not be much to look at anyway, as you say that you can't view it at all now.
It may still be a bug somewhere in the forum, but more and more points at something in that thread.
Is there anything particular with the thread?
What is posted in it? Images, html code, video, anything at all out of the ordinary?
Is it a very important thread, or could you consider deleting it?
Do not try to move it to another forum/section, though. It may mess up more things...

Actually it is an important thread... it posted a newspaper article that mentioned our web site in it and then some great replies, good history, etc... and one disruptive poster posted another one of his BS warning posts trying to get folks to stay away from our forum. So if the thread were deleted or they can't get to it it may make folks believe that the distruptive poster was somehow right... maybe not, but appearances sometimes mean a lot to some. There was nothing as far as images in the thread, the original post had a link to the newspaper where the article was from but that didn't cause any issues as the thread is several days old with many replies. The only thing was the last poster that replied inserted a smiley... could that have messed it up?

That sounds like an important thread indeed, Jacko.

If the smiley was linked to from a remote host, and not a smiley from the Emoticons in the Posting Panel, then I guess that the smiley could have made a mess.
Did you see the smiley there, before the problem started, or did the member just tell you about it?
In any case, it seems that I'm running out of ideas here, so I'll register on your forum. In case you have Admin Activation, please activate my account, and I'll see if I can understand a little more...

Jacko, I have registered on your forum, and viewed as well as posted 4 posts in the thread, with no problems at all.

I did this using IE7, and you said you get the IE error page, so I guess that you are using the same browser.
My best guess is that it was something that "got stuck" and/or "timed out", to finally correct itself, either in connection to your account, or in connection to that particular thread, when you tried to post in it.
If you still can't get to the thread now, it's really confusing...

I thank you for registering and checking it out... even though I still cannot get to that thread at least you could which means that others may not be having this problem. I will clean out my cache, etc.. and reboot and see if that helps. Maybe I will go to a friends house and try my luck on a different PC to see if it is only my PC.
But I thank you very much for your help and effort!!
Jacko

Jacko, try also using Firefox as your browser and see if you still have the problem.
For while, on this support forum, with IE7, I had a lot of trouble getting into two of the staff threads, but with Firefox, there was not the problem. Now, it all works fine for me here on this staff forum with IE7. I am not sure why there was the problem, but least there is choice to use Firefox to see things when IE7 won't.

I think it must be a glitch in the forum because it also happened when I tried on my friend's PC with IE7 and I have IE6. But it was fine later back on my PC so for now all is back to normal!
Thanks again to both of you for the assist!
Jacko
