On the configuration part of the admin panel you have the option to disable your forum so only admins can access the admin panel. I have tried to use this but once I click submit it changes back to what it was. Do you have to buy something to do this or is it a bug?

No, you are not able to disable the forum. Just lock all the sections so nobody can post and it will self delete.

What I mean is there is a option to do it. It is there so if you are making any major changes you can do it without users seeing what is going to happen.

Here is a screen shot...

Scoobs, that function is disabled on ForumUp forums, for safety reasons.

A vital part of the concept with ForumUp is that a only a mere minimum of knowledge should be required for someone to set up and Administrate a forum. Some functions are therefore disabled.

If someone unknowledgeable disables a forum, by mistake or by "curiosity", s/he will not know how to get back into the admin panel and activate the forum again.

I am sure that you know how to handle it, but a lot of your fellow members would have to go to a support forum to get help. The "Urgent" section would be flooded with this kind of "help" topics.

If it is really important for you to surprise your members, you can solve part of it by making new categories and forums that are visible to you only, until you are ready to "release" it all to the members. With a little planning you can change such things as a new logo, template etc, the very last thing you do, and it will be a surprise anyway.

I have another question... I am going along with the FavIcon guide and I needed help on how to get or how you know when your logo is 16x16. The site it says to use to get a .ico file just puts it back to the page it was at before...

Scoobs, it seems that they have changed that tool slightly, since our tutorial was written.

I used the tool now, just to make sure, and it did not resize a 32x32 image, exactly as you say.

But it works perfectly when you make the image 16x16 first, in some image editing program on your computer, and then upload it to

Then you'll get a correctly converted 16x16 favicon, to upload and link to.

The page does not go back to where it was, but it seems to do, because the upload tool comes up again, in the same position. If you look further down the page, there will be instant examples of how it looks, as well as a download link for you to use.

You'll get a winrar file to "unrar", and then you can just upload the .ico file to a host...
