a mysterious user on my forum

i have a mysterious user on my forum its now happend twice

i traced his ip and i got

crawl-66-249-67-187.googlebot.com

is that normal?

or is this a spambot?

also there is 4 of them thats on my forum at the same time
but they dont register.

try just sit at the forum index

they ahve 4 peopel with the same ip... its weird

Softsoilder, it is a bot, but it's not a spam bot.

It's a crawler, or search-bot (from google in this case, hence googlebot.com). It adds the latest stuff to Google's search engine. There are bots from Yahoo and from the advertising company ForumUp uses as well.

It is not 4 of them (unless you see another IP as well), it is just that they move so fast that the statistics function can't handle it.

If you see that a crawler is reading PMs, or posts in hidden forums, according to the list in the Admin panel. It is not the case. It can't get further than the log in, just like any other guest. The bots "click" every link, but they cannot get into password protected areas.

So, those bots are quite harmless and friendly... Wink

my frind has spam bots problems and he has alot of them lol

i didnt want to have that problem
