Seems like a half-decent idea.

What with the price of heating oil and natural gas...

Plus I also have a section for Wind and Solar discussion.

Hopefully somebody will join and start the ball rolling.

You need to start the ball rolling. You can make up a some fake members to post, so the forum seems populated. Many people do not want to be the first on a forum.

It also takes time for people to find a forum. Tell all your friends and relatives. Don't count of this support forum to be where you get members from. After all, you haven't joined all the forums listed in this section, did you?

I know that.

I posted notices about it on a motorcycle forum, book forum, politics forum, tattoo forum, and my local area newspaper forum. Total views of my posts in those forums comes to well over 100 in just about 24 hours.

No new members yet.

Fake members may be a trick I try. Sounds kinda fun actually.

Thanks Very Happy

Definately do the fake member trick. Also, post a few info tidbits.

Edward, you might include OWBs on your forum also. They seem to be big in the outlying areas in NYS.

OWB...got it. Thanks.

I have a section for "other" and a suggestions section.

If new members would like to see something like that they can post about it in a few places.

I did the fake member thing. It might have worked.

I got two "real" new members not long after I added some fake ones.

Thanks again.

I have had more than one person let me know that when they've attempted to view my forum their McAfee virus protection software has warned them that my site is unsafe.

WTF?????

Is that due to the ads on the site or what?

How can I assure potential new members that there's nothing to be scared of regarding Forumup.com sites?

Makes me wonder how many potential new members don't join that I never hear about. gaah

I have McAfee too and have the same warning on every .com forum (even here on the staff forum). I think that warning came up when there was a virus on .com and never left since then. But - the virus was deleted. Very Happy Maybe another moderator knows more..

Either way - you could tell them that the virus from the .com forums was deleted, so that they should be able to log on to your forum safely.
