Ooops, a case of 1.5 (rather than double) posting... Laughing

Jokes aside Uprising, here is a complete step by step tutorial on how to make someone a Moderator:

I believe that I have already replied to the Admin questions here; how to make another Admin, and the risks involved in doing so:

And yes, you are the forum "owner" and the Administrator -- the "boss". And as long as you don't appoint another Admin, then you are the only one who can enter the Admin panel, create new forums etc, edit forum descriptions, ban members etc.

A Moderator can edit posts, move topics, delete topics etc. But you can also limit what they can do, in the Forum Permissions settings.

If you are new to forums and phpBB2, then it is a good idea to look through these flash player tutorials, and familiarize yourself with the Admin Panel at the same time:

The person you appoint as a admin gets to the admin panel the same way you do but just log in through their user name and password NOT yours.

At the bottom in the Who's Online box you can change the colors of the admins and moderators by going to Styles Admin> >Management then pick the templet you are using.

Find Font Colour 3:

&

Font Colour 2:

Font Colour 2: is for the moderator color and Font Colour 3: is for the admin color. To see the codes for the colors go here...

To change the color in the post you go to User Admin> >Ranks. Pick the rank wanted to change the color and put this code infront of it.

Code:
<font color=006600>

Where the number is(006600) put the desired code color.

Uprising, a few things about the order and rules here.

One topic per question, unless they are closely related, like the Admin / Mods one. So yes, the colour change can go here too.

And even more importantly:

Please put the URL to your forum in your signature. If you wonder why, read here:

Mind you, I'm not complaining, because even if the rules are all over the index page, it is very much because of how we "met", that I forgot to point this out to you from the start. Thus making it seem "legitimate" for you to continue without URL...

To sort the colour issue out, we really need to see you forum -- from the outside at least. But I can already now tell you that the colour of the Moderator names in the Forum Descriptions will not change with the colour you give them in the who's online box.

And yes, please fix that cap lock... Wink

i though that you could change the mods colours

You can, but only in the Who's online "box", on the Index page.

Quote:
for example the greetings section
the mods are same colour as the greetings word its self
i thought making them standout abit would look better Question

I understand your idea, but the thing is that the names of the Moderators in the forum descriptions are links to their profiles, and the forum titles are links to the forums, and all links get the link colour. One colour for all links...

Oops, I'm a bit tired. My intention was to quote your post, Uprising, but instead I happened to edit it, with my replies. Embarassed

Well, you will hopefully understand the answers, even if it looks like you are talking to yourself... Laughing

@Uprising: The only way to change the mod colors under the site discription is to change the link colors as you said.

Changing the color of the moderators in the forum description is impossible. However, there is one way to make look as if their changed.

You can create a hidden group for the moderators, so that their names would not appear in the forum description on the index page. Then, you can write them manually in each description and change the color with HTML.

The explanation is really brief. Say if you need more details.

Yup, you're fast learner. Now, please try to learn to post the questions in the correct category... Wink

Leave it as it is for now, at least, and stick to the basics; to what is really important for your forum, and for you and your members. It's much more important that the Moderators know how to do their job, than what colour their names have, for example.

Forgot to mention this. You can change the color of the 'Moderator' before the names of your moderators. Do so copy and paste this code at the end of each forum description.

Code:
<font color=006600>

You can search for the color codes here,

Only registered users can see links on this forum!
Register or Login on forum!

Just paste that code, do NOT close it off with,

Code:
</font>
