I have received probably my tenth warning message that my forum is going to be deleted in 10 days. I have been receiving these emails since December. Is there something else I need to do to get it to actually delete instead of pretending it's going to? Or could I at least get an email after 10 days from it saying, "Sike! Fooled you again!"

Here's a copy of my latest email:

To ensure no one posts, renewing the 21 days, lock all forums.

Sorry for the double post...

It seems that it has been locked already, just needs to be deleted. Has it been like this for awhile and you still receive these messages? Otherwise it should be deleted in 21 days from the last post.

I keep getting messages that it's been locked, then that it's being deleted in 10 days. Back and forth, back and forth. I got an email on Jan 22nd saying it was being blocked; an email on Feb 5th saying it was being deleted; an email on Feb 7th saying it was being blocked; and now one today saying it'll be deleted. This has been going on for the last two months.

Is there a way to delete it without waiting for the system to purge it?

What it sounds like to me is that it gets locked, a previous member or you press the unlock button. The one today, did it say 10 more days or it would be deleted today?

I believe there is a way for the webmaster, Raulken, to delete the forum. (Or the World Wide Admin, gg'ssimon.) But I doubt that Rauklen will be able to get to a request of it being deleted since he is in the process of updating all the domains of forumup.

For now I would wait for a moderator/admin response on this topic.

Delete all the boards from your forum. Go to the admin panel and inactivate the social bookmark links that show at the bottom of the forum (Digg, etc.) Deactivate the PayPal donate button. Maybe someone clicks on those which might possibly affect things.

Delete all the users except for yourself.

Then sooner or later the forum will be deleted from the server.

Just ignore the emails from ForumUp.

Cali, the automated deletion system can sometimes be slow (or adjusted to be slow, because the Webmaster is working on something).

But the most common reason for this is that members keep clicking the unlock button on the "this forum is locked" page. That "resets" the program, and it starts sending all the warnings again; more or less right away, if there are no new posts.

So, to make it clear that the forum is gone, follow Scoobs advice.

Delete everything; all forums and posts, and the user accounts (feasible, as you've only got 9 of them to deal with).

This will not stop the emails straight away...

If you don't have, or are member of, another forumup.org forum, and if you don't have plans to start a new one, then you can block the forum.org email adress from your mailbox (this will not affect emails from other forumup domains, like .com).

If you need to recieve other emails from forum.org, and if the problem with the warning messages continues, please report again, and we'll try to help you...

FoxLeonard

Where exactly is the place I need to go to deactivate the social bookmarks? Step by step instructions would help me a great deal -- I have no idea what I'm doing.

Thanks!

You can disable these social bookmarks from the admin panel going through General Admin>>ForumUp, scroll down a disable them from there.
