We have a group who use forumup as a means of communicating information to our members.
The administrator who normally gives access to the "members only" section has been missing for over a month so we have no one to give permission to the new members.
I have no means of communicating with him.
I searched for half an hour but could not find any info here on how to deal with this situation. What's the next step?

You can do nothing, it is the makers forum. Try e-mailing him. _________________ Jordan (PirateScoobs)

Start your own forum. Invite the current members to your new place.
Blam! Problem solved.

There is nothing you can do if you are not the owner. Sorry. _________________ Nicole

Thanks for the advise guys. We have a huge database of posts there that would interest the new members. I'll have to copy the info out I suppose. |

Yes. But I would try emailing the admin first - maybe he's just busy! And btw, isn't there another "group admin" than the real forum admin? If not, you should contact the owner of the forum with the question if he can make you/another active forummember the group admin.
You can not enter the admin panel then, do not have any more rights, but you can let in people to the "members only" area. _________________

According to the forum ticker, you have a little over 1000 posts.
I would not consider that a "huge database".
Seems like a perfect time to start over if the Admin is actually AWOL. _________________

Depends on the quality of the data.
Thanks again everyone. No admins left, no moderators and no email addresses. There's a warning for all forums... always have two admins. |

No email address? What about using the email function on the forum?
There's this button at the bottom of every post saying "Email", have you tried that? _________________

That button won't show if the person selected it not to, from their profile.

Well, not really a good thing. We get so many cases of where the admins have a quarrel, and the one who is NOT the forum owner has banned or had taken away the admin rights of the forum owner.
It is advised, though, for the admin to make sure the moderators have his/her email address.
Hopefully that forum owner will show up again. I hope he is ok. _________________ Margaret /gg'ssimon~ForumUp World-Wide Administrator

I had an idea to PM one of the admins who stopped logging in some time last year. He responded and will work something out for me! I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. I guess I just thought he was no longer available with it being so long. Desperation huh?
Thanks to everyone for trying to help. It's been really great of you! |
