This has been happening over the past 24 hours. It's happening now and it's a personal attack by a well known troll in forum land. Is there anything I can do to stop this as it's extremely offensive stuff. All I am doing just now is sitting it out until he goes to bed then getting in and deleting everything, including my email inbox which obviously gets filled with the new registrations. Thanks.

To add to the above post, 'm not talking about a few hoax registrations. Last night he made over 200, and so far tonight he has made 78.

the simpliest thing to do is to block his IP address by:

forum Arrow Admin Panel Arrow User Admin Arrow Ban Control Arrow (3rd column)Ban one or more IP addresses or hostnames Arrow Type in the IP address ( IP addresses can be found. when he logs in, go to the Admin Panel Arrow Admin Index Arrow Who is online Arrow Check his IP) Arrow Submit.

But I've visited your forum, I don't think he can post anything, but only register, right?

(Sorry for bad grammar, 'coz, again, I'm from Hong Kong)

Oh, and you may also block his e-mail address by going to the same place as I mentioned on top (Ban Control), but type his e-mail in:Ban one or more email addresses part.

Thanks for your reply, sfwinders, but I have already IP blocked him. However, he is now using proxy IPs and keeps changing them and I can't keep up with this. No, he can't post, but this attack looks terrible to anyone viewing the memberlist. This is a new forum and I am gradually builing up the membership. We're just a general chat forum and the vast majority of our members are middle aged and elderly.

Hopefully he seems to have taken a break so I'm going in to start deleting. If he comes back and sees me online he will just start up again.

He is making up false email addresses each time her registers. This also means that not only do I have an inbox full of new registration alerts but also have identical numbers of undeliverable email notifications. It's just too much to cope with in the middle of the night.

Thanks for your help sfwonders. This is a person who is extremely adept at trolling and he knows all the tricks. I will just have to wait until an admin sees my posts.

There is nothing more I can add than what was already said.

You can hide your name so when you are on the forum, your name does not show at the bottom in the "Who is online" section. You set yourself to be hidden in your profile.

I am sorry this person is doing that to you. But, he should get tired eventually.

Many thanks for your reply, Margaret. I had thought of hiding my name, but he will suss that it's me the moment he realises his hoax registrations start to be deleted.

I do think the best way for me to deal with this at the moment is to log out of my forum while he's spamming the memberlist and leaving him to it. He does like an audience.

I can't see him tiring of this, he is known for being extremely persistent when he decided to target someone.

Is there any way I can disable new registrations temporary while he is online?

No, there is no way to disable registrations.

Maybe instead of deleting the fake accounts he makes, change the user names to something nice- but boring, and delete any website links he puts in the profiles. Then in a few days or so, delete those fake accounts.

That's an idea! I could try that. Thanks for the suggestion.
