OK....I figured it out. The page is arranged different than other paypal pages I've used. The language selection menu was in a completely different place.
So, if I click the paypal button in my Admin panel, which opens the paypal page, can I then just copy/paste the link to that page into a thread on my forum?
Rather than a paypal button I'll just have a stickie thread with a link to the paypal page for my forum.
Is it workable that way? _________________

Or you can do this like said in my previous post:
| Code: |
<a href=URL><img border=0 src=http://iwb.forumup.com/immagini/paypal.jpg></a> |
In the code, make sure you replace the URL with the actual URL you get when you press the button.
Put that in your bottom HTML box.
Please ask if you have any questions. _________________ Jordan (PirateScoobs)

Scoobs.....I did what you suggested. Worked great until I rebooted.
Once cache and cookies are cleared it does not work.
Very frustrating.
Having people pay me to I can pay them is a pain in the butt. I hope something a bit more user-friendly can be worked out. I don't like the idea of people thinking I'm making money off my forum. _________________

Well I've just created this button linked to a paypal "personal account" and the first person has just donated.
The thing is that paypal now asks me to confirm the credit or debit card to which this should be linked and will then charge me 1.50 euros for the transaction. So this means everytime someone donates and I then in turn donate to forumup it will cost me personally 1.50 euros !!!!
Not a good solution
Raulken can we not find another way around this please?

Now paypal tells me I have to check my card account and post the last four digits of their code to enable me to be charged this 1..50 euros ... my card is an internet use only card and I only get the account monthly
This is starting to become very, very complicated indeed.
Some advise would be greatly appreciated.

A) Scoobs....are you now Forumup staff? Your name is not listed as a mod or anything. I appreciate your help, but I do wonder if you are the one we should be talking to or complaining to.
B) I used the code you supplied. I replace the URL part (as you stated) with the hyperlink to the page I am directed to when I click the paypal link in my Admin panel. After I did all that and clicked the button to save that step the paypal clickable link appeared at the bottom of my forum. It worked great for me.....until I cleared cookies.
Then, I was simply directed to a paypal error page.
I even thought there might be a problem with the English version I changed it to so I tried it all again using the default Italian paypal page I get when I first click from my Admin panel.
Same problem.
I get a default paypal page which is completely useless and in no way related to Forumup ad removal.
Again, I appreciate your time and attempts to help, but I'd really like for a Forumup mod or Admin to get more involved here.
Making it difficult for members to remove ads is not a good feature. _________________

One doesn't get changed anything for Paypal to transfer funds to a US Bank Account. Apparently, your bank is not in the USA.
What PirateScoobs posted in this thread (at Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | would be a way to use the same code that used to show on the index page. You get the code from in your admin panel. _________________ Margaret /gg'ssimon~ForumUp World-Wide Administrator

Scoobs was not staff, but as of today he is.
It might be that since the code is taken from the Admin panel, the admin has to be logged in to get it. And being logged in puts a cookie in your computer.
Try adding it again for one of the staff to go see and click on it to see what happens.
It is not difficult for members to remove ads. What seems to be difficult is a way to get payments from others using that code. _________________ Margaret /gg'ssimon~ForumUp World-Wide Administrator

To avoid the commission if people pay into my paypal account I've now tried Scoobs method of putting the URL from the Admin panel into the code.
Well this works for me, the page comes up with all the details just as it does from the Admin panel .... but the members get a paypal page which says "click here to retry".
Any more suggestions please?

Clear your cache and your cookies and I'll bet the link does not work for you. _________________

Exactly, Edward, because the members don't have the cache or the cookies they don't get the page to open ... so that solution of Scoobs doesn't work.
I also agree ... Having people pay me so I can pay the webmaster is a pain never mind each receipt costing me 1.50 euros commission.
This problem is going to be affecting a lot of people now so we really do need some help from Raulken I think. Has that other payment system suggested above been checkout out?

Oh dear, that's not very helpful.
It's a problem Raulken is having with paypal and, although not his fault, we are being left to try to sort out the consequences by ourselves and at our cost. If you have a busy forum such as ours donations are having to be made quite often to keep it ad-free and the Admins cannot pay this all on their own and their members wouldn't want them to either.
It's absolutely in order that Raulken earns his living by removing the ads, after all he works hard to keep everything up and running. However, he should please find a work around for this because from his initial posting it's clear he is well aware that removing the donation button at paypal's request is causing a problem on the forums.
