Posted: Sun Aug 30, 2009 11:14 am Post subject: Innappropriate Content Check?
I recently put up a new article on my forum only to recieve 5 "automated violation emails" from forumup... I can assure you there is no indecent commentary in the article I have posted, however the article refers to one JOHN W. SEXTON, who was the owner of the Sexton Spice Company, U.S.A.
I know you normally assure us good folk that if there is actually no innapropriate content we needn't worry, but I have recieved 5 emails thus far... Is the final response (i.e. account cancellation) automated too if a certain amount of emails is sent out? Do I need to worry?
What is the process?
Thank you,
TC

Never actually had any notices but I read one copied to this Board
and noticed it said words to the effect "You have 24 hours to find
and correct (the breach) before your Forum is closed".
Okay but 24 hours?
I'm often away 4 days in 7 and seldom have internet access in
those periods. If I got such a notice (whatever it might be for), my
Board could be gone before I even had a chance to check my e-mail.
That is totally wrong.
Dare I suggest Stephano's next order of business is to make that (and any time limits,) 7 days?
Sorry to wonder in off topic but this seems important to all.

Read the link to the FAQ listed above before you protest things that are not even the accurate case.

The automatic check message does not say that.
If you will be leaving your forum unattended for a period of time, you need to give a member moderator powers to be able to move any posts with inappropriate content to a private section for your review when you return.
If you read the FAQ, you will see that there is no automatic ban of forums due to the Automated Content Check.

That's the second time someone here has questioned my veracity.
If YOU read what I wrote, it is clear that I was NOT talking about
that particular notice. I referred to another that I read here - on
THIS Forum - some time ago. I don't recall which thread and I'm
certainly not looking.
I was quite enjoying myself until now.
Thank you so much, Margaret.
Have a nice day.

If you are not referring to the topic of this thread, then open a new topic and tell specifically what you are talking about or what you want clarified. If you don't know exactly what you read and what it was in reference to, then no point suggesting Stefano change warning time periods.
If your forum is not violating the TOS, then you have nothing to worry about. When you go on vacation, make sure you have a moderator who can move any inappropriate content out of public view. There are no automatic machine bans done. The only automatic closing of a forum is the automatic pruning of forums with no posts for 21 days.

I was close enough not to be scourged
I am sorry you felt "scourged".

If you are sure there are no violations the Terms Of Service (TOS) of ForumUp, and no content that is not appropriate to be on view to the public, you can ignore this email.
So if you make sure your forum has no TOS violations, you don't need to worry.
I see that the message that person got said "24 hours". That has been changed to "48" hours. Again, if you go on vacation, make sure to have a moderator who can check all new posts and move any that contain TOS violations. Also, again, before a forum might get banned, a staff member checks the forum. If no violations are found, no ban.
That automatic warning message is based on certain trigger words or word parts, such as sex, even if that is part of another word.
