There was poker content on your forum, which violates our Terms of Service you agreed to when creating the forum.

once again ..i've read the TOS...no where in there is poker mentioned ...from what i see ,the only items to be banning materials is mainly objects that are illegal...

no where in the world, have i found POKER to be illegal...especially just discussing it mainly..

so guess i'm a bit naive but how does the word "POKER " hurt forumup and where in the TOS is this discussed???

i just recieved back an e mail from the old owner of chasemonkeys..he did say he had discussed this with gg simmons approx:18 months ago..

at that time they came to an agreement that as long as it was a private section of forum that it should be ok...nothing has changed since then...

if need be we can even make it hidden, just for forumup..

this particular forum was made, to keep a group of friends who played online poker ,in touch with each other ..it was also a forum where other items were discussed more....it's not limited to purely poker[that just happens to be how most of us met]

guess what i'm trying to figure out is what has happened that has changed all the things we represent and that has been OK'D in the past, by someone at forumup..

what have i gotta do to keep this group together..we have around 400 members and still growing..we've been running in forumup for 3 years now

and can i ask why i wasn't even contacted to make changes if they needed it..we were purely banned with no notice

Please read the policy about gambling in the announcement posted Jun 23, 2008:

Nothing related to poker or gambling may be on public view, not even in the descriptions showing on the index page.

On Oct 02, 2009 I sent a warning to the owner email of that forum. We waited a long time, and no change was made. Hence the eventual ban.

I am sorry, but no. We gave a long time for some response to our emailed warning to the owner of the forum.

Hi Margaret,

You probably don’t remember me, but I was the previous owner of Chase Monkey and you contacted be around 18 months ago, regarding the poker sections. You were very helpful with telling me how to set up user-groups, in order to make the poker sections private.

I did everything you said and then you gave me the “all clear”

Nothing has changed with the forum format since then.

If the Forumup interpretation of the TOS has changed since I was told that the forum complied, can you, at least, give Johnnyboy the chance to change things. It’s obvious that he didn’t get your e-mail, otherwise he would have made those changes!

Just tell us, in this thread, what needs to be done and I promise you, it will done within 10 minutes of CM admin reading it.

400 members, 50 thousand posts, a whole community don’t know what the h*ll is going on right now… just tell us what to do?

Jim

johnnyboy57, look in your spam folder of your email account. Probably the email send by our abuse system went there.

gumbo73, fair enough. The TOS got stricter since we discussed your forum over a year ago, but the only way the new strictness would be known is if one had come to the support forum to read the announcement. I will unban the forum for 48 hours. Anything mentioning poker or gambling must not be viewed by the general public, including in the descriptions of the forum sections.

You know that most forum owners only come to the staff forum when the servers are down, to moan and complain about it Wink

You peeps do a great job with this free forum structure Very Happy and long may it continue!

Forumup gave me the confidence to start (and host) my own website. So, thank you to Raulken, Maggie Wink and all the staff
