Hey guys,

I was hoping someone could help me set up my subdomain forward. I had it set up perfect in the past but a year past and I lost my domain name. I bought the domain name again yesterday, but am having trouble setting it up.

I would like it so when you type in

it goes to

I purchased the domain name through Yahoo. Under the Managing my domain name I have it so it redirects me to:

Then Under the phpBB Administration -> Forumup -> Domain Name
I entered:

For some the forard isn't working, am I doing something wrong? If anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it!!!

I get "page cannot be found", when I click the

link, Achilles.

First of all, as you use two URLs to your forum, in your post...

Are you sure that you have used the correct URL to your forum in the redirection:

and not

The latter works as a hyperlink, but I doubt that it will work for redirection.

Another thing that could be wrong is if you have not redirected to ForumUp's IP correctly. You will find the IP you should use right above where you enter the URL.

Also (if more unlikely, if it works for some people), when you copy and paste the URL, make sure that you don't mark "outside" of the actual URL. If you happen to copy and paste some "space", before or after, then the software may try to include the space in the URL, if you understand what I mean.

I can't use a marker colour on here, so I'll use [ ] instead:

You should copy and paste like this:

And not like this:

[

]

If none of the above makes a difference, and if the redirection actually works for some people, then it seems to me that you will need to contact the provider of the domain.

Where am I supposed to enter the IP address you mentioned? I see where it tells me it, but when I was setting up the forard it didn't ask me for it.

Achilles, it may be different on different domains, and on different domain "admin panels". But I'm pretty sure it is needed. In which case you would need to talk to the provider of the domain.

Can you remember if you used the IP or not, when you had the earlier redirection?

Do you think it is one of these options in the Advanced DNAS Settings?

It could be there, but I am far from sure.

What I do know is that the only thing you can do on the forum is to enter the domain URL in the Admin Panel. Which means that anything else needs to be done at the domain end. And that in turn means that Yahoo's support for it will be much more qualified to help you, than what I am. Initially, at least...

If they can't help you, or of they redirect you back here, I need to ask my colleagues if they know more, or if I have missed somethíng obvious that will solve it.

I Just recieved an E-mail from the Domain Support Here it is incase anyone has this issue. Thanks again FoxLeonard!

"Hello _____,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Domains.

I understand from your email that your domain service is not working on

the browser.

_____, Ordering your domain takes just a few minutes, however,
processing
your order takes typically less than 24 hours. During that time, your
domain is pending. The pending state occurs for all newly registered
domains and re-delegated domains.

For a newly registered domain, this means that the domain registration
has not yet propagated across the Internet. A new domain takes 24 to 72

hours to propagate across the Internet depending on the extension you
have chosen.

For a re-delegated domain, pending means that you need to change the
name server at your registrar to point to Yahoo!. After you complete
this change, it will take up to 48 hours for the changes to propagate
across the Internet.

We will show a "Domain Pending" message on your service until your
domain becomes active. We will email you when that change occurs. Note
that if you are using a domain name that you registered through another

provider, it may take an additional 24 hour for your visitors to reach
your domain at Yahoo!

The main effects of having a pending domain are:

Web Address - For newly registered domains, visitors who go to your web

address will see a "Page Not Found" error. For re-delegated domains,
visitors will see the page or web site that is currently shown,
depending on the settings you have made at your registrar.

Email - Any email messages sent to your domain name may not be
delivered
while your domain is pending. If you are using a domain you ordered
through another provider, your email may be delivered there until
propagation has completed.

Please do not hesitate to reply if you need further assistance.

Have a great day!

Regards,

Vince"

You are welcome Achilles. Not that I was of much help really... Embarassed

But the main thing is that you've got it up and running now. The

link works every time Very Happy

Thanks for providing the email copy, it can for sure be very helpful for others doing the same, and running into the same problems. First and foremost if they use Yahoo, of course, but also with similar providers...

I'll see if I can make it a part of some additional advice post. In the meantime I'll make it a sticky in here...
