i'd like to limmit my forum to users 18 or older since it contains adult content. Is there a way to check a users age or add a required field that will require them to enter thier age when they sign up for my forum.

You need to put all the adult content in private sections, then make a special user group where you add members one by one after you believe if they are 18 or older.
You also need to activate the ICRA tag. It is in the admin panel>General Admin>ForumUp.

Put all the adult content in a private forum (which is a rule on FoumUp). After that, create a special usergroup that has access to the forums with adult content. In the description of the usergroup, write something like, "You need to have 18 years, in order to join." This way, the members will confirm their age by pressing the button for joining the group. There is no way you can be 100% sure that the user is not lying, but you have asked them about their age, and it is their responsibility, not yours.
